On July 18th and 19th Granville Street was bustling with people and fun for VIVA Vancouver's Granville Social. The street was transformed into a blank canvas for chalk art, a studio for local artists to complete murals, a dance floor for lessons and performances, a skate park for a heated skateboarding competition, and a stage to celebrate Brazilian and Indian culture.

Needless to say, Granville Social was a successful transformation of just a street to countless things to indulge in.

For now, Granville Street returns to vehicles and buses until Taiwanfest in September.

Can't wait? Nelson Square Management and the Downtown Vancouver BIA's Perch Program are throwing a free, public event called the "Games Extravaganza in the Perch @NelsonSquare." Come join us for giant games (life-sized Connect-4 and checkers, bananagrams, jenga, and pick-up sticks?! Ohhh yes!) and treats including popcorn, ice cream, or donuts! Come celebrate the potential and benefits of programming public spaces. You'll even get a chance to re-imagine what Downtown will look like in 25 years!
