The City of Vancouver is planning to expand the current bike route system in downtown Vancouver over the next 5 years - including a much need bike lane on the Granville Street Bridge. There will be an emphasis on safety and making sure that commuters that live and work downtown have a safe way to reach their destinations. Each bike lane will have a barrier to protect them from moving cars - whether that's a row of parked cars or a concrete divider. "We know there are a lot of people who will bike if they feel safer. We've seen those numbers shooting up in recent years as we add more safe cycling routes." city councilor Heather Deal told CBC News.
